Other Mamas probably get worried about food, location, what cute little outfit she’ll wear, etc. But me? I’m worried about cake. Not because I have an obsession with sweets (No joke, ask my husband, he is amazed), but because I can’t imagine putting a sugar-filled store-bought cake into her little innocent body! She has only had pure things like fruits, veggies, organic cereal, organic yogurt and of course, Mama’s very own special roast! Some of you may be thinking that I need to lighten up a bit, but TRUST, its too soon to get her hooked! Needless to say, I’ve been researching some alternatives.
I’ve come across some great ideas. For example, my sister suggested an applesauce cake. I also found tons of articles on fruit pizza with homemade dough and cream cheese, but she (nor her friends) have enough teeth for that. I also came across a banana cake, apple oatmeal muffins and pavlova too! All sounded wonderful. I think I am going to go with a recipe for a Carrot-Banana-Zucchini cake!
I’m excited that I can feel good about what she is eating-as well as me! Its a win-win situation for everyone, right?! Stay tuned and I’ll tell you how it all turns out! Well, I’m pumped to have a party to celebrate little Stella this weekend! I am hoping that this healthy alternative is something she, my guests and myself can feel good about eating the next day! Think about what you will do for your kiddo’s next birthday; a non-traditional cake may be the way to go. You know my philosophy: it can only help make you more of a Chic Traveling (and health-conscious) Mama!
