Like Mama Like Babe

As Stella approaches the big 1, her personality is REALLY starting to shine. She is becoming her own little person and it is an amazing thing to see. It is also scary that we are in charge of shaping this little girl, but I suppose if God trusts us enough, I should too!Stella has a beautiful presence about her. She is social, outgoing, she will get your attention if she doesn’t have it and she is strong. She is independent…With this comes a lot of defiance. I mean they are little things I notice day to day. For example, Stella has had baby sign drilled into her head for about 6 months now. She knows how to do it (Mama’s intuition never lies!). Will she? Heck no! What does she do when I sign to her? She laughs and looks in the other direction. Really?! Am I supposed to get into a power struggle with her or what? She is 11 months old and I don’t want to make this a habit for the rest of her life geez!

It’s not just the baby sign, it is all kinds of stuff, the point is how to handle it so it doesn’t become a habit later on. I mean, I got a girl, the sass can get pretty bad when she becomes a teen… our pediatrician said to start ignoring the behavior and that may diffuse it. Why don’t I feel like it’s going to be that easy (by the way, her new doctor is young, hot and has no children!)?!

Where does she get this ‘tude anyway? I wish I could tell ya, although I may have a pretty good guess. As the saying goes, apples don’t fall far from the tree: that’s right, her Dad.

I’m kidding! I’m the culprit here. For anyone who knows me, this isn’t hard to believe. If Stella is anything like me, then I am in for a real treat (can you sense my sarcasm?). On the bright side, I will have lots of blogs to write (if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry).

Oh well, if Stella is just like her Mama then being strong will not just bite me in the a** all the time, but really come in handy for her in her own life. It has for me, that’s how I got here! She may have ‘tude, but one day she will be her own Chic Traveling (and sassy) Mama!
